Growing Up Green: Our Sustainability Legacy

About Us

Our passion for creating unique, stylish clothing for babies and kids is matched only by our unwavering dedication to building a better world for future generations. Our commitment to sustainability runs deep, and it’s at the heart of everything we do.

Sustainable Materials

Our garments use materials certified STANDARD 100 by Oeko-Tex, Class 1, which are safe for children’s skin. We select eco-friendly options like organic cotton and recycled fabrics to reduce our environmental footprint. We’re dedicated to creating both stylish and sustainable clothing for a healthier planet our children will inherit.

Circular Economy

Our take-back program allows you to return your child’s outgrown clothing to us, where we carefully refurbish or upcycle it. This ensures that no garment goes to waste and that every piece continues to tell a story.

Durability & Longevity

Sustainability means more than just eco-friendly materials. We craft our clothing with durability in mind. We want your child’s Azores Playground garment to last, ensuring that you get the most out of every piece and reduce the need for replacements. We believe that the longer a piece of clothing lasts, the less strain we put on the environment.

Zero-Waste Philosophy

We follow a zero-waste philosophy, minimizing waste and making every effort to repurpose or recycle materials. Even the smallest offcuts find new purpose in our upcycled creations. Our tag is made of seed paper. When you receive your order, you can tear the tag and place it in soil, watering regularly, and it will grow into a plant. In addition to this, all of our e-commerce packages and other materials are made of recycled paper, further reducing our environmental footprint.

Community Support

We’re not just creating clothing; we’re building a community. Our brand supports local Azorean artisans who bring the islands’ culture to life through their craftsmanship. By collaborating with these artists, we ensure the preservation of traditional techniques and promote the local economy.

The Arts

Matiz Embroidery

The Matiz stitch or embroidery, typical of São Miguel, is usually characterized by two shades of blue, reflecting the rare beauty of the islands. It predominates vegetal and country motifs such as clovers, tendrils, brambles, avencas, carnations, among others.

"Pé de Flor" Embroidery

Sometimes in the works of Matiz stitch, the flower foot stitch or so-called “Russian” stitch is also included. This way, the craftsmen express all their sensibility by combining these two stitches.
